Indigenous perspectives on science, nature, land stewardship, and the environment.
This selection seeks to highlight not only direct knowledge, but those works which speak specifically to the ways in which Indigenous approaches to science and the land differ from a Western approach. I do not support the appropriation of Indigenous practices as a way to heal non-Indigenous peoples’ relationship to the land. I do however believe it’s essential for us all to learn from, and grant authority to, Indigenous approaches to science, particularly when it comes to the stewardship of land and nature.
Many of the books link to WorldCat (library consortium) – put in your zip code to find copies in libraries near you. This list is not comprehensive – I will add to this page periodically..
